Some man thought it would be a good idea to leave his dump truck stalled in the middle of the road in King George, where there are no streetlights. He didn’t turn on his emergency blinkers to let other drivers know. He told the police he just wanted to save the battery’s energy. This makes no sense because the truck was already stalled and repairs were in order! Even worse, it caused an accident with me and my son.

We were driving down this dark road and ran under the dump truck, which peeled back the roof of my car and scraped off the top of me and my son’s foreheads. It’s a very emotional issue. He was only two years old at the time and is minimally verbal, so it was hard to tell how bad the extent of his head injuries were. We both had brain injuries.

I don’t have a sharp memory of the event. We were rescued on the road by a man who helped us out of the car. My son lost consciousness shortly after the rescue and had to be medevaced to a hospital. I didn’t regain consciousness until 2:30 am. The police had already come and had done a report, and it was not our fault.

I love Emily. There were so many emotions all at once when I went to the office.  I was nervous at the beginning because I didn’t really remember the accident – only what the police told me. But I knew within 30 seconds after meeting Emily that I wanted her as an attorney. Women get the job done!

My brain injury caused memory issues for a year and a half, and I would have problems with repeating myself over and over. Emily helped me navigate the case, even with my brain issues. She made it all happen. She took the reins. She’s like a pit bull. It was really comforting to know that I had someone on my side, so I never had to worry.
