Allen & Allen Medical Malpractice Verdict in Top 100 Verdicts Nationally for 2013: Denton v. Chu

This March, The National Law Journal published a list of “Top 100 Verdicts of 2013” which consists of the top trial verdicts across the nation. Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen is pleased to congratulate medical malpractice attorneys Jason W. Konvicka and Malcolm P. McConnell, III for their inclusion on the list with the $25,000,000 verdict they received in Denton v. Chu. Their verdict ranked #82 in the National Law Journal’s Top 100 Verdicts of 2013.[1]

The verdict was awarded by a jury in the City of Hampton after the plaintiff’s cardiologist failed to detect  a blocked artery during a cardiac catheterization procedure and thereby misdiagnosed the plaintiff, which ultimately resulted in the plaintiff suffering a devastating heart attack two months later.  It is believed to be one of the largest medical malpractice verdict in the history of the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as the largest personal injury verdict for Hampton.

The Denton v. Chu verdict was featured earlier this year in Virginia Lawyers Weekly as the #1 ranking verdict in Largest Verdicts of 2013 for the state of Virginia.
