We are thrilled to announce that attorney Malcolm “Mic” McConnell has been named the 2024 recipient of the VADA-VTLA Civility and Professionalism Award.
This is the first time an Allen & Allen attorney has received this honor, and it is a true reflection of McConnell’s character and allegiance to caring for his community.
The Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys partners every year with the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association to honor a member of the plaintiff’s bar who exemplifies professionalism and civility in the practice of law. This award alternates between defense attorneys and plaintiff attorneys every year, and McConnell’s colleagues at the defense bar let him know that he is held in their highest esteem, saying, “We all have clients we have to serve, but the standard of professionalism you have set throughout your career demonstrates that maintaining a good relationship among counsel benefits those clients in the end.”
One of the few attorneys board-certified in Medical Malpractice Law by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, he has devoted his career to protecting those injured through no fault of their own. Mic still finds the time to be a pillar in his community. He made an impactful donation to Health Brigade, a clinic has been vital to the LGBTQ+ community. He has volunteered at the YMCA for programs surrounding the holidays, the back-to-school season, and more.
“I have had the privilege of seeing his high standard for civility and professionalism on full display over the years, and it is truly something to which we should all aspire,” said colleague Derrick Walker.
