Please join us in congratulating attorney Trent Kerns for being named a Class of 2024 Hall of Fame honoree with Virginia Lawyers Weekly!

Trent Kerns

A lot of care goes into selecting those worthy of this accolade. The lawyers must have been in practice for at least 30 years and possess considerable career accomplishments. The honorees must also contribute to the big picture within the legal world. Virginia Lawyers Weekly seeks attorneys who help to develop the law in Virginia, make contributions to the Virginia bar and the commonwealth at large, all with the goal of improving the quality of justice in Virginia.

Trent certainly fits the mold, and recently made Virginia history. Along with attorney Chris Guedri, he secured the largest single-plaintiff settlement for a personal injury case in Virginia, at $47,500,000. From 2012-2018, he served as the president of the Allen Law Firm, where he was admired for his dedication to mentoring young attorneys.

Other leadership positions include serving as the president and founder of the Lewis F. Powell Inn of Court, as well as the president of the Young Lawyers Section of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA).  He served on VTLA’s Foundation Board for 20 years. Trent has also been the recipient of awards within the legal field, including being named to Virginia Super Lawyers.

“It has been my privilege and pleasure to serve those who were wrongfully injured throughout Virginia,” says Kerns. “I have been fortunate to have an incredible support team at Allen & Allen, and at home. I could not have done my job without all of our departments pulling together. I am also grateful for the legal community throughout Virginia who have served as mentors and colleagues throughout my career. Thank you to Virginia Lawyers Weekly for this incredible honor.”

He will be honored via a reception in May at the John Marshall Ballrooms in downtown Richmond. Congratulations to Trent on achieving this worthy milestone!
