Martin from Richmond

Last January, I had a fall at work. I’m a truck driver for a lumber company, and when I went to the job site that day, everything was supposed to be “easy peasy,” as they say. Well, it wasn’t.

There was a forklift on the back of the truck to lift heavy objects. And it hadn’t been cleaned since it was used the night before. I stepped onto the platform, then slipped and fell onto my side. I tried to reach for the bar to keep myself up, but I landed hard on my arm.

My wrist and shoulder were damaged, and I had tears on my labrum too. The MRI said I needed rotator cuff surgery, which I did have. Followed by rehab.

I knew I needed help when the insurance claims woman I was working with became difficult. She didn’t like that I asked a lot of questions, and many of her answers were, “I don’t know what to tell you.” And a nurse’s assistant was pushing me to get an MRI when I still felt uncomfortable being enclosed in tight spaces. I knew there would be a long healing process and I wanted to be treated well. I wanted to protect my rights. That’s why I reached out to Allen & Allen – I liked what I read about them online.

Jennifer and Candice are very professional. I’m big on honesty, with no holding back. And they were straightforward with me, and told me what to expect through every step of the process. The communication was great. Jennifer genuinely cared about my health. She made it easy for me – I was comfortable knowing she was in my corner. She took care of me.
