Attorney Scott Carlton successfully secured $401,120 on behalf of his client, which included $330,000 in liability and uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM) benefits, along with $65,000 in Med Pay coverage. Previously the defendant’s insurance company, State Farm, had extended an offer of just $30,000.
Our client was injured in a collision while driving southbound on Telegraph Road in Stafford, VA. Her vehicle was struck when a driver in a northbound Toyota Camry failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center line, and struck her vehicle head-on.
Footage of the crash and statements from law enforcement indicated that the Camry was traveling in excess of 65 mph in a 45 mph zone. The at-fault driver was subsequently charged with reckless driving and other related offenses. Following the collision, our client was transported via ambulance to Mary Washington Hospital, where she was diagnosed with an ankle fracture, requiring surgery. She underwent physical therapy and ultimately achieved recovery.
Our client wasn’t sure what to do after the accident and visited our Stafford office to talk with an attorney. Scott Carlton, with the support of Legal Assistant Rachel Veloz, worked diligently to secure a resolution that reflected the seriousness of her injuries.
