Location: Spotsylvania County Circuit Court
Verdict: $140,000
After a rear-end collision left a 33-year-old mother of two with ongoing neck and back pain, she turned to Allen & Allen for help. Attorney Junior Ndlovu represented our client, Julie, in Spotsylvania County Circuit Court and secured a $140,000 jury verdict on her behalf, more than twice the insurance’s $65,000 final settlement offer.
The crash occurred in February 2023 when Julie was heading home. Traffic stopped for a vehicle with a flat tire that was exiting the roadway. The defendant failed to stop in time and rear-ended Julie.
Following the crash, Julie sought medical treatment, including two emergency room visits, orthopedic care, and physical therapy. She continued to experience lower back pain and was diagnosed with a lumbar sprain and an aggravation of pre-existing degenerative disc disease. Her treatment included pain-management care. Her incurred medical bills were $55,887.29.
At trial, the defense hired a medical expert to challenge the extent of Julie’s injuries. Attorney Junior Ndlovu was able to use this expert’s substantial relationship with the insurance company that had hired him to prove bias. Junior was able present evidence to the jury that this hired expert had been paid over a million dollars by the same insurance company over the past 10 years for testifying against injured plaintiffs like Julie.
After hearing the evidence, the jury awarded Julie $140,000, more than twice the insurance company’s final offer of $65,000. This result reflects the thorough preparation and commitment Allen & Allen’s legal team takes to advocating for our clients when a fair resolution cannot be reached before trial. We’re proud to have stood by Julie and helped ensure she had the opportunity to tell her story and have her case heard by a jury.
