Settlement: $826,000
While driving home on Route 20 in Buckingham County, our client was seriously injured when a drunk driver traveling in the opposite direction crossed the center line and struck her vehicle head-on. The impact was so severe it forced her vehicle off the roadway, and she was transported to the University of Virginia Hospital for immediate treatment. Attorney David Irvine led Allen & Allen’s legal team and ultimately secured an $826,000 settlement.
Our client suffered significant injuries, including a complex fracture of her right ankle that required surgery and a displaced fracture in her left wrist. After being discharged from the hospital, she faced a difficult recovery that required in-home health care, including wound care and even help with walking and moving about her home. Unfortunately, the inflammation from her displaced wrist fracture worsened and led to a second surgery: carpal tunnel release.
Allen & Allen filed suit in Buckingham County Circuit Court and prepared her case for trial. When the at-fault driver reported limited insurance coverage, Attorney Irvine’s team investigated further and identified additional policies that provided coverage for the resources she needed. Working with a toxicology expert to establish the extent of the driver’s impairment, the team gave the insurance company a clear picture of what a jury would see.
Fully prepared to take the case to trial, Attorney David Irvine and our team secured the settlement for our client before trial began. We’re grateful our client trusted Allen & Allen to stand beside her through such a difficult chapter, and proud of what our team achieved on her behalf.
