The crash occurred in November 2019, when our 19-year-old client was riding with his father on their way to Montpelier. Another driver pulled out from a stop sign, causing a violent collision that sent both vehicles into a retaining wall. Although the property damage was severe, our client initially believed he was lucky to have escaped with only minor injuries.
In the days and weeks that followed, however, he began to experience worsening back pain that would change the course of his life. Over the next several years, he tried multiple treatments — physical therapy, injections, chiropractic care, and more — but the pain never fully went away.
Before the crash, he had been a dedicated Division I baseball player, with dreams of continuing his athletic career through college and beyond. The lasting effects of his injury forced him to give up the sport he loved and limit many of his favorite activities, including hunting, fishing, and traveling.
At trial, our attorneys presented testimony from his family, friends, and doctors to show the full impact of his injuries. The defense admitted fault but downplayed the severity of his pain. After hearing all the evidence, the Hanover County jury returned a $215,000 verdict in favor of our client, recognizing the true, ongoing toll this crash had on his life.
