When Laurie Givens’ name was called as the Marcella Murray Award winner, she received a standing ovation and cheers. This was a much-deserved award for the longtime employee.
Every year during Legal Week, Allen & Allen celebrates its support staff with a week’s worth of festivities. The largest of which is an off-site party, where everyone gathers for the Marcella Murray Award celebration. This year, the event was held in Hardywood West Creek, and employees from locations outside of Richmond were chauffeured into town in style – by limousine! Colleagues caught up over seasonal drinks and delicious food.
Named after the beloved legal assistant who passed away in 2010, the Marcella Murray Award is presented to an employee who exemplifies the character, service, and client-first attitude that Marcella Murray is remembered for. The recognition also includes a $1,000 cash prize. When Laurie was being praised by President Jason Konvicka, he described her as an employee who never says “That’s not my job,” is always willing to help others, and while she’s technically a legal assistant, she can be seen loading the dishwasher and occasionally serving as office security!
“I am humbled to have won this award. I have worked at the firm of Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen for 33 years now and had the privilege of working with Marcella Murray and calling her my friend. She set very high standards when it came to client service. To have my co-workers and the attorneys at the firm feel I have even some of the same great qualities that she had, is an honor,” said Laurie.
Congratulations to Laurie on this well-deserved recognition!
