Caring for Our Neighbors - Supporting the Local Communities We Serve
For over a century, injured Virginians have entrusted Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen with their personal injury claims enabling ourfirm to prosper and become one of Virginia's largest personal injury law firms. As our law practice has grown, so has our involvement with the communities we serve.
Our charitable outreach reflects the broad interests of our law firm and its individual attorneys and staff members. We focus on social need, medical issues, education, and community based events and activities.
Supporting the Needy, the Underprivileged and the Handicapped
Our law firm looks for ways to support charitable groupsthat help the needy, the underprivileged, and the handicapped.
Our employees give the gift of "time". Our attorneys serve on various charity Boards such as the Brain Injury Association of VA, SCAN and CHIP of Virginia. We encourage our employees to give back to the community. In addition to Firm-sponsored volunteer activities, employees can also take 7.5 hours paid time off each year to do volunteer service of their own choosing. Our Charlottesville office also regularly delivers meals to deserving residents as part of the Meals on Wheels program.
Every year, many charitable events take place inside our own firm and involve the direct participation of our lawyers and employees. Our employees have contributed over 21,000 pounds food to the annual Legal Food Frenzy drive sponsored by the Central Virginia, Fredericksburg Area, and BlueRidge Area Food Banks.
Supporting Charitable Medical Causes
It is natural for us to support medical causes. After all, every one of our clients has suffered an injury of one kind or another.
The Allen Law Firm serves as a corporate sponsor of the Brain Injury Association of Virginia. Our marketing manager assisted this group in producing a public service announcement on concussion prevention. We are a website sponsor of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association.
Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen has also sponsored the No Cavities Club, a Charlottesville program fostering greater access to dental care, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's "Starry Night Gala", and Connor's Heroes, a Massey Cancer Center program thathelps families of children with cancer. We have made donations to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the American Diabetes Association, and Sheltering Arms Hospital, a provider of rehabilitation services.
In the past, the law firm sponsored a medical mission to Guatemala. Our attorneys and staff have also raised money in firm-based campaigns to benefit relief efforts for victims of the tsunami in Southeast Asia and Hurricane Katrina.
Supporting Education
An educated work force is the backbone of every thriving community. Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen takes pride in its George E. Allen Scholarship Program which awards a $1,500 college scholarship to 15 Virginia high school seniors every spring. To celebrate the achievements of these special students, we also hold an annual awards dinner for the scholarship winners, their family members, and special friends. Teachers are the bedrock of every school system. In partnership with the Virginia Departmentof Education, Allen, Allen, Allen and Allen donates a $2500 gift every year to the Virginia Teacher of the Year.
To highlight the importance Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen places oneducation, our lawyers regularly visit elementary, middle and high schoolsthroughout Central Virginia to participate in school sponsored Career Days. To help keep teens safer,we sponsor "After Prom Parties" at many high schools including Clover Hill High School, Matoaca High School, Chancellor High School, James Moore High School, and Varina High School.
Supporting Civic Organizations and Events
Virginians enjoy public events and community activities that promote local civic organizations, and Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen likes to join in. We take part through individual employee participation, firm sponsorships, and booths we set up at many functions.
We support the Great Train Race in Fredericksburg, the MADD Walkathon in Richmond's Dorey Park, the Que Pasa Festival held at the Science Museum of Virginia, and the Richmond Soap Box Derby.
At a more local level, we contribute to Little League baseball teams in Mechanicsville and Spotsylvania and community based sports programs like the Henrico Police Athletic League (PAL). Our partner, Doug Barry, was the keynote speaker for a graduating class of Richmond police officers in May, 2010.
Supporting Our Troops
Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen began the Adopt-The-Troops program in 2007. We have “adopted” units of enlisted soldiers in Afganistan and Iraq. These men and women are bravely serving our country and so, to give something back to them, we send messages of support and familiar items from the states such as coffee makers, snacks, books, magazines and holiday decorations as morale boosters to show our appreciation for these troops who are deployed far from home.
