$760,000 combined automobile accident settlements for Powhatan family

Location: Powhatan
Combined settlements: $760,000

A 59-year-old woman from Powhatan tragically lost her life after a devastating car crash while traveling home from the airport with her sister and her 37-year-old son living with a severe intellectual disability. As they drove along Old Buckingham Road near Giles Bridge Road, an oncoming driver lost control while rounding a curve and crossed into their lane, causing a violent collision.

The woman suffered catastrophic injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, spinal and multiple fractures, severe internal injuries, and significant dental trauma. Despite intensive care, multiple surgeries, and rehabilitation efforts, she passed away from the injuries she sustained in the collision.  Not only did our client who was driving, sustain serious injuries, but both passengers did as well. Her son endured serious injuries requiring multiple surgeries, including the placement of a rod in his left thigh, and her sister suffered a fractured sternum, and a spleen laceration, and injuries to her arm, hand, and neck. The Powahatan resident is lovingly remembered by her sister, husband, and their three children. Through dedicated advocacy, our firm secured a total recovery of $760,000 on behalf of the family across the three related claims, helping provide a measure of justice during an unimaginably difficult time.
