$3.46 Million Jury Verdict Secured for Client Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident from Spotsylvania County

Location: Spotsylvania County
Jury Verdict: $3.46 Million

$3.46 Million Jury Verdict in Spotsylvania County for Auto Accident Attorneys Jason Konvicka and Wilson Van Winkle obtained a $3,460,223.86 jury verdict on behalf of our client, who suffered a shattered C5-C6 vertebra and an arterial dissection. These injuries lead to permanent neck pain and numbness of the hands. Our client was injured in a motor vehicle collision when the defendant ran a red light and t-boned him at an intersection on Route 3 in Spotsylvania County. Our client’s vehicle was pushed more than 100 feet across the intersection and up onto a curb. Liability in the accident was not disputed.

Our client was originally treated at Mary Washington Hospital, where he was examined and released with a diagnosis of whiplash. Three days later, he went to urgent care, where a CT scan revealed mildly displaced fractures of C5 and C6 and a vertebral artery dissection. He was then transported to Inova Fairfax and admitted for three days. Following his release, our client was required to wear an immobilizing collar for seven months while his vertebrae and artery slowly healed. Although he had paused treatment for three years, he later resumed care with a pain management specialist and continues to receive ongoing treatment. Prior to the crash, he worked as a sidewalk repair technician and used a 70-pound saw to trim excess concrete from sidewalks. Despite returning to work after the crash, his injuries impacted his ability to perform his job, and ultimately led to his termination.

After two hours of deliberation, the jury returned a verdict for $3,460,223.86. This amount includes $50,287.36 in medical bills, $77,750.00 in lost wages, a projected $1,492,186.50 in future medical care, $840,000.00 in lost earning capacity, and an additional $1,000,000.

This verdict was the result of the hard work and dedication of our client’s entire legal team which included Attorneys Jason Konvicka and Wilson Van Winkle and Legal Assistant Donna Schroeder.
