With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Sandra Antoine knows that her work at The Giving Heart will be ramping up. This volunteer-based nonprofit cooks a big Thanksgiving feast in Richmond, serving those in need. Sandra is a 2024 Hometown Hero, and helps run this program.

The holidays are a busy time, and The Allen Law Firm wanted to help The Giving Heart spread the joy on Thanksgiving. The Giving Heart was given a $1,000 donation on behalf of Allen & Allen Cares: Helping Our Heroes. This is the firm’s community giving program, which connects former Allen & Allen Hometown Heroes with grants to aid their local nonprofits.
“I want to build an understanding that there are lonely people in circumstances beyond their control. If we can take a moment in time and be thankful, even if you don’t have much, it’s enough. Cooking these turkey dinners is a labor of love for a lot of people. We should all go beyond our comfort zones to make a difference. Community is ‘common-unity,'” says Antoine.
