Why We Call Richmond Home

In 1910, my grandfather, George E. Allen began a one man law firm in Lunenberg County, Virginia. Over twenty years later, in 1931, he moved his practice and his family to Richmond, where the firm would grow to become the largest personal injury firm in Virginia. In 2011, more than 100 years after George Allen began his  law firm, Scott Fitzgerald, a 4th generation Allen joined  the Allen Law Firm with a commitment to carry on the legacy of excellence.

We are proud to call Richmond our home, a city filled with rich culture and compelling history.  Our location in the center of Virginia’s capital city is no coincidence. Since our founding, members of the Allen Law Firm have been active in the state legislature, which is located in Richmond. George Allen served a term as a Virginia State Senator and his son George E. Allen, Jr., served in the Virginia General Assembly, both helping to create laws that protect those affected by personal injury. Today, our attorneys continue to play an active role in proposing and renewing important legislation involving all aspects of personal injury law and practice.

Our Richmond office on Staples Mill Road has been a consistent and convenient presence within the community since 1969. The Allen Law Firm has five locations in and around Richmond, including Chesterfield, Short Pump, Mechanicsville, and Petersburg. While Allen & Allen has grown to support more clients and families affected by personal injury nationwide, we have continued to focus our attention on the Richmond area. Allen & Allen has developed strong partnerships within the community and supports an annual Hometown Heroes program to recognize those who help make Richmond and all of Virginia great. We are also proud to support high school seniors from Richmond and surrounding areas through our annual George E. Allen Scholarship Program.

The attorneys at Allen & Allen maintain an ongoing relationship with the University of Richmond Law School. Sixteen of our current lawyers are proud graduates of the University of Richmond Law School, and two of our attorneys are adjunct faculty members. In 1982, George Allen and his sons George E. Allen, Jr., Ashby B. Allen and my father Wilbur C. Allen established and contributed the primary funding for the George E. Allen chair at the University of Richmond Law School. The chair was established to honor their father by bringing highly distinguished national legal scholars and professors to University of Richmond to help educate and prepare students for legal careers at the highest level.

Our Richmond office houses nearly 20 attorneys with a broad range of expertise in various practice areas and a combined 350 years of personal injury practice experience.

Attorneys in the Allen & Allen Richmond office have successfully settled and litigated cases involving car accidents, traumatic brain injuries, medical malpractice, wrongful death, product liability, premises liability, tractor trailer accidents, and bus accidents.
