$1M Settlement for Nursing Home Negligence Case

Settlement: $1,000,000

Attorneys Ellen Bognar and Lee Appleton obtained a $1,000,000 settlement for their client who suffered a below-the-knee amputation as a result of nursing home negligence. The facility did not care plan for her need for assistance with activities of daily living or her risk of developing pressure ulcers (bedsores). It did not turn and reposition her every two hours and did not offload pressure from her heels. As a result, she developed pressure ulcers to her sacrum and both heels, and those wounds deteriorated.  One heel wound became so deep and infected that her lower leg had to be amputated.
