Allen & Allen is pleased to announce that Mara Shingleton has accepted a one year clerkship with Magistrate Judge Mark Colombell of the United States District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division.
This prestigious position begins on July 12 and will last for a full year, where Mara will gain immeasurable experience before returning to Allen & Allen. “I look forward to becoming intimately familiar with the federal judicial process, and playing a role in what makes our Article III courts so important for everyday people. I can’t wait to use what I’ve learned at Allen and Allen to aid the judge in his decision-making, and of course take with me the values of helping others as I assist directly in the judicial proceedings.”
Thrilled at being chosen over a large pool of applicants, Mara is prepared to do a great deal of research and writing. She will also help the judge prepare for mediations, conferences, oral arguments and trials. This includes supporting the judge’s work in presiding over pre-trial criminal proceedings.
“This is an exciting and pivotal chapter in my career, and I can’t wait to gain amazing new insight into civil litigation, constitutional law, and criminal procedure,” Mara said.
