Mark Casper is a U.S. Marine veteran, and was named an Allen & Allen Hometown Hero in 2018 for his work leading the nonprofit Tech for Troops. Casper has once again reunited with Allen & Allen, who is supporting Tech for Troops with a $1,000 check on behalf of the firm’s giving initiative: Allen & Allen Cares: Helping Our Heroes.

Founded in 2014, Tech for Troops has a vision. They aim to improve the lives of veterans and their families by providing nationwide digital services.  This nonprofit services the under-resourced population by providing sustainable lifelong digital skills via training, and providing veterans with refurbished digital devices.

Casper is the former owner and operator of an IT firm, and when he learned that Tech for Troops needed help with their mission, he knew he could foster this program. He accepted the position of Executive Director with the organization in 2016. Casper is passionate about helping veterans struggling both mentally and physically as a result of their service. He’s motivated by the connections he makes with veterans,  and the positive changes he sees as they progress.

Tech for Troops has a specialized team that refurbishes donated computers and sells them to veterans at a very low cost. Each computer has a fresh operating system and is updated to maximize connections to the internet. This nonprofit supports multiple veteran-serving organizations, such as training centers, counseling clinics, outreach programs, and housing organizations. One of the many benefits of Tech for Troops is the sustainability it brings to communities. They are reducing waste by reclaiming computers and hardware that would normally be sent to a landfill. They have already recycled over 800 tons of e-waste!

“For fifteen years, we’ve been privileged to meet and recognize hundreds of incredible people through our Hometown Heroes program,” said Edward Allen, President of Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen. “We’re proud to honor Mark with this donation. At Allen & Allen, we’re committed to serving those in need and draw strength from empowering others. It’s clear that the entire Tech for Troops team shares that passion, and we look forward to staying in touch and seeing the positive impact this donation will have on their mission.”

Allen & Allen Cares: Helping Our Heroes is the Allen Law Firm’s community giving program, which connects former Allen & Allen Hometown Heroes with grants to aid their local nonprofits.
