This week, volunteers from The Allen Law Firm paid a visit to the Ronald McDonald House in Richmond. With grocery bags in tow, they came to whip up a meal for families currently staying there. Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, what better time to create a holiday-themed meal with all the trimmings?
When a child suffers serious or complicated illnesses, it can take an emotional and financial toll on families. Many people travel from distant locales to receive world-class care at Richmond-area hospitals. However, the cost of traveling for medical care adds up, between hotel bills and dining out. The Ronald McDonald House exists to ease that burden, providing world-class temporary housing and support services. This allows families to be actively involved in their child’s care.
The staff at Allen & Allen understands that any additional comfort that eases the burden for these families is welcome. A home-cooked meal with all the Thanksgiving trimmings did just the trick. The staff had a wonderful time gathering in the kitchen, showing off their culinary skills, and giving back to a community need.
And no, they did not forget the pie!
