The decedent was driving up Afton Mountain, when a drunk driver sideswiped his vehicle, pushing him into the path of a tractor-trailer. He was then hit from behind by the large truck and died at the scene.

The decedent was the father of adult children, and one of the last Black farmers in that area of Virginia. He had also been the main caretaker for his wife, who suffered from Alzheimer’s. The family was devastated by this loss.
