Robert from Waynesboro

I was in an impossible situation. I drive septic tank trucks and was walking on a property when I fell into a hole. I tore my meniscus right in half. But because I worked for someone that I thought was a good friend, I didn’t file a workers’ compensation claim right away. I paid out of pocket with my own insurance because I thought they were going to take care of me. They said they had my back when I went to the doctor.

But they did not help me like they promised they would. I had gone to the doctor, had surgery for my meniscus in October, and was on crutches from August to March. They even lied to me. They sat me down and told me that I should have filed for workers’ compensation rather than pay out of pocket. They told me it was too late to file. It turns out, that was a lie. The statute of limitations was two years for my injury, and I found that out from Jennifer at Allen & Allen.

I had called a couple of other law firms, and no one wanted to deal with my case because I hadn’t filed a workers’ comp case right away. Even though I was within the statute of limitations, they rejected me. Not Jennifer. She and Candice didn’t think of me as a waste of time.  They had more faith in me than I did. I had no work, no money, I was in crutches, and I just felt like I didn’t have it in me. Candice kept me hanging on. She said, “Let Jennifer do what she’s going to do.”

I’m glad I listened to her. They got me exactly what I needed. Even when my employer, who makes plenty of money, tried to say I didn’t tell them about the injury in time. As if I weren’t out for months in crutches. Jennifer took care of it. They helped with my fears and anxiety during the process, because I lost my coworkers as friends in this ordeal too.

Allen & Allen will guide you through everything. They held my hand through the whole process. I’m grateful for that.
