Richmond Times-Dispatch Article Reports on Allen & Allen Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Massage Envy

The Richmond Times-Dispatch recently reported that the law firm of Allen & Allen has filed a $1.1 million lawsuit against Massage Envy Franchising, LLC, ME Short Pump, Inc., and Albert L. Safewright, Jr. on behalf of a woman who said she was touched on her breasts and buttocks by an employee at the Massage Envy in Short Pump last April.

“The woman was having a full body massage on April 10 at the spa at 4346 Pouncey Tract Road, when a male massage employee, Albert L. Safewright Jr., touched her inappropriately, according to the lawsuit filed in Henrico County Circuit Court last month,” the article states.

Albert Safewright, Jr. ultimately pled guilty and was convicted of assault.

Massage Envy has come under fire in recent years following a barrage of other sexual assault lawsuits, including a Richmond woman who was assaulted at the spa in Willow Lawn in 2015.

“This is continuing to be a problem, so whatever steps they are taking to address the issue clearly are not working,” said attorney Robert C.T. Reed, who is representing the plaintiff along with James M. Kessel.
