We at Allen & Allen would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for the service and dedication brought to the firm by John G. “Jack” Berry. Jack celebrates his retirement after 38 years of legal practice, and after serving as a partner at the Allen Law Firm since 2012.
Jack Berry was an essential member of the Charlottesville office of Allen & Allen. He joined the firm with not only a diverse range of experience with personal injury cases, but with a model set of ethical standards that he practiced every day. His leadership ability and exemplary character did not go unnoticed, and Jack was elected by his peers to represent the 16th Circuit as a member of the Bar Council, the governing body of the Virginia State Bar, from 2000 to 2006. He served on the 7th District Ethics Committee of the Virginia State Bar from 1999 to 2005, including a term as Chairman.
Jack was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and raised in Madison County where he attended Madison County High School. He was Captain of the track and football teams at Washington and Lee University and was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL in 1976. He decided, however, to attend law school.
Jack lives in Madison County with his wife of more than 30 years, Lee. They have three daughters. Jack is a basketball enthusiast and has a love of reading, hiking, and fly fishing. We wish him the best during his retirement and hope that he is able to enjoy these passions more with each passing year.
