Author: Melinda H. South, Attorney

Fran began her career as a teacher at Robert E. Lee Junior High School in Danville teaching U.S. and Virginia History to 7th and 8th graders.  She then came to the Allen Law Firm and worked here full time for 4 years. Fran was one of the first people that new clients saw.  She returned to her first career, teaching, first at Thomas Dale High School and then at Lloyd C. Bird High School teaching Government, World History, U. S. History and Practical Law.  Of course, she received lots of advice and help from the attorneys here with that last course!  She retired from teaching in 2002.  Through out her teaching career she continued to work part time for the law firm.  She has worn a variety of hats but her most recent job is librarian.  She handles her duties effortlessly and always has a smile on her face.

Fran has decided 39 ½ year is enough. She wants to retire to enjoy more time to travel and pursue her many outside interests.  While we will miss her, we wish her the absolute best for her retirement.  She deserves it!
