Some Hometown Heroes are being recognized Friday night for their community service. The Allen and Allen law firm recognized 50 people in and around central Virginia for their dedication to solving community problems.
Susan Stevens of Nelson County was recognized for her work with cancer patients. Her organization, Giving Hope, raises money to help cancer patients pay their bills. “It’s just about giving back to my community. I don’t know if it’s about the recognition at all. It feels good to be able to give back to that cancer patient, and that’s what’s most important,” said Stevens.
Allen and Allen partner Mic McConnell explained, “We’ve honored over 150 Hometown Heroes now. Doctors, lawyers, volunteers, teachers, something we’re very excited about and glad to be continuing.”
The Allen and Allen law firm has sponsored the annual Hometown Heroes recognition for three years.
