Team Allen & Allen Laced Up Their Shoes and Walked Like MADD to Honor Victims of Drunk Drivers

As part of our continued effort to raise awareness of the dangers of drunk and drugged driving, Allen & Allen was pleased to once again participate in the Walk Like MADD 5k on March 31, 2018, at scenic Dorey Park in Henrico County, Virginia.

This year’s event marked the 10th anniversary of the annual walk and race held to honor victims of drunk drivers and raise funds for educational outreach. A total of 20 teams and 260 participants raised over $35,000 in donations to support MADD’s No More Victims® campaign.

“It’s so important what you do, to get out ahead, to work for prevention. MADD has made a tremendous difference, and in so many ways it’s not quantifiable because how can you count the number of people who didn’t get behind the wheel after they’d been drinking? How can you count the number of people who didn’t get killed or hurt by drunk drivers? At Allen & Allen, we help victims after they’ve been hurt. We know MADD is making a difference because there are fewer victims every year, but one victim is still too many. That’s why we have to keep going. That’s why we’re all here today,” McConnell said just before the start of the 5k.

In addition to serving as a sponsor for the event, volunteers from the firm presented finishers with goodie bags, attorney Tammy Ruble was on-hand to answer legal questions about personal injury for attendees, and two of the team of runners from Allen & Allen were among the top ten male and female finishers.

Though the 2018 Walk Like MADD 5k has passed, the Allen Law Firm’s support of Mothers Against Drunk Driving continues throughout the year with community and school presentations about the preventable dangers of drinking and driving, participation in the MADD Tie One On For Safety holiday campaign, and Allen & Allen’s own Sober Ride Home program every New Year’s Eve.
