The dangers of distracted driving are well documented, and no form of distracted driving is more prevalent today than texting-and-driving. This is why many states across the country have made it illegal to text while driving, giving police officers the right to pull over and ticket any driver they observe engaging in such activity. Unfortunately, drivers continue to text-and-drive every day, subjecting those around them to the consequences of distracted driving. This is why a number of different groups, such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and It Can Wait, have started campaigns aimed at raising public awareness as to the dangers of texting and driving.
The distracted driving epidemic has reached global proportions and has become a cause for concern in countries across the world. So, in Britain, writer-director Peter Watkins Hughes decided that the best way for drivers to realize the dangers associated with texting-and-driving was to show them what happens to distracted drivers behind the wheel. The result, a graphic and emotionally jarring video that is meant to scare drivers away from fiddling with their phones while driving. A snippet of the video has been posted online and serves as a preview for what audiences can expect from the rest of the film. Hopefully, increasing public awareness as to how dangerous it is to text-and-drive will help reduce the number of accidents cause by distracted drivers.
