Blog-CAV.jpg

Attorney: Courtney Van Winkle, Richmond, VA Personal Injury Attorney

The holiday season is a time for visiting with friends and family and for the giving and receiving of gifts. There is no better feeling than giving someone just the right present and watching their face light up. But the gift-giving season also creates some safety issues. Author: Courtney Allen Van Winkle, Richmond Personal Injury Lawyer

Hitched Trailer Accidents

Author: Malcolm P. McConnell, III, Richmond Virginia Medical Malpractice Attorney

Unfortunately, some drivers fail to follow proper hitching precautions, either negligently or intentionally. An improperly hitched trailer is more likely to become detached from the towing vehicle. After a trailer becomes detached from its towing vehicle, it becomes an uncontrolled “missile on the highway.”

Current estimates place the number of deaths caused by improperly hitched…

Practical Tips for Driving in the Snow

As we move deeper into the winter weather season, we can expect more adverse conditions when we are driving.   Winter weather in Virginia brings wind, rain, sleet, and sometimes snow.  The infrequency of snow in Virginia means that many drivers are not used to driving in the snow; for that reason alone, often the safest course of action is to avoid driving on those rare occasions when there’s snow.  Even if you think that you are a skilled (maybe even experienced) driver in snow, don’t forget that a large number of drivers on the road are not.

Sometimes, however, it’s unavoidable. So, if you have to venture out into the snow, be prepared, use caution, and know how to respond.  Driving in winter conditions is unpredictable.  …
