National Work Zone Awareness Week Saves Lives

Author: P. Christopher Guedri, Richmond, VA Personal Injury Attorney

March 23 – 27, 2015 marks National Work Zone Awareness Week. As a personal injury attorney, I know firsthand how devastating work zone accidents can be. Safe driving habits in highway work zones protect not only Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) workers, but also help ensure the safety of everyone on the roadways. The theme of this year’s Awareness Week is “Expect the Unexpected.” [1] The goal of the spring campaign is to encourage drivers to use extra caution in highway work zones.

Work zone accidents often happen when drivers do not have their full attention on the road.  This short video shows a VDOT employee narrowly…

#X: A Campaign to Stop Texting and Driving

By: P. Christopher Guedri, Richmond, VA Personal Injury Attorney

AT&T has launched a new phase in their ongoing campaign against distracted driving: #X. #X is conceived as a conversation stop-gap, an easy to type pause button that lets the person you are communicating with know you are about to drive and will get back to them when you’re off the road. The majority of texting drivers are not initiating a conversation but instead responding to a text. Why You Shouldn’t Give a Recorded Statement to the Insurance Company

Author: P. Christopher Guedri, Richmond VA Personal Injury Attorney

After you’ve been in an accident that wasn’t your fault, you may receive a telephone call from the adjuster of the person who hit you. She seems pleasant on the phone, and she just needs you to answer a few questions to “firm up liability.” Don’t fall for her trap! What she really wants is for you to give a recorded statement that the other person’s insurance can use against you to avoid paying you the money you deserve. This is why, as a general rule, you shouldn’t give a recorded statement concerning a motor vehicle accident to anyone without the advice of an attorney. You shouldn’t give an oral statement either.

But what could…

Statutes of Limitations

Author: P. Christopher Guedri, Richmond Personal Injury Attorney

You have suffered a personal injury that was not your fault, but you decide that you just don't have the time or energy to contact a lawyer. But don't wait too long, or your claim could be subject to something known as a "statute of imitations."

1. The time period starts running down on the date your claim arises or "accrues" (the date of your personal injury); and

Author: P. Christopher Guedri - Richmond, VA Personal Injury Lawyer

Driving requires the simultaneous use of multiple skills: focus and attention, coordination, as well as split-second decision making.
